This week’s Track-to-Track Road Trip is bound to be an exciting one! With stops on the iconic Route 66, and countless other fun attractions along the way, this will be a trip to remember. First Stop: Joliet, IL

Joliet, IL, located right outside of Chicago, is more than worth the pit stop! If you’re bummed that this past weekend’s race has come and gone, the Route 66 Raceway will lift your spirits. The drag racing track always has exhilarating racing events to attend. If you’re looking for something off the beaten path, getting locked in the Old Joliet Prison Park will give you some good stories to tell. Featured in the iconic film, Blues Brothers, the historic jail is a great place to go for movie buffs, or those who are simply curious what life behind bars is like. You can also enjoy the arts in Joliet at the Rialto Square Theatre. Then, cool off at Joliet Splash Station, one of the best water parks around. You’re sure to be tired after all that activity, so be sure to enjoy Joliet’s amenities. If you’d like to get back to nature and camp out under the stars, Pilcher Park is where it’s at.

South Bend, IN has tons of family friendly activities to experience. The Potawatomi Zoo is a must for young and old alike, as is The South Bend Chocolate Company. Then, stop on by the Potawatomi Conservatories to catch a peek of their stunning plants. Car fans are sure to love the Studebaker Museum, featuring none other than the classic Studebaker car. If you didn’t stop for the night in Joliet, you’re sure to need a break from the road by now. The Oliver Inn will offer a relaxing reprieve.

Toldeo, OH is nestled right off the coast of Lake Erie. Here, you’re sure to get a warm Midwest welcome. Once you reach your destination, head straight to Tony Packo’s. For a beautiful view of the lake, head on over to the Toledo Harbor Lighthouse. And, if you didn’t get enough of the cute creatures at the Potawatomi Zoo, be sure to swing by the Toledo Zoo for even more animal experiences. If you have curious kids in your travel group, the Imagination Station is a must-see. They currently have a dino takeover, which is perfect for the aspiring paleontologists in your group. Before you head to the next destination, the 21 and over crowd can grab a refreshing adult beverage at the Maumee Bay Brewing Co.
